A winter tale ....????

I was looking for something on the NYTimes  2 weeks ago and on the main page top there was a Winter Tale ...

"""Cartier has long used the panther as a theme in its designs and advertisements but this year, as Luxury Daily reports, it's going for cute, showcasing a panther cub as the star of its "Winter Tale" campaign.

*The multichannel campaign follows the soft, little panther through a snowy forest of littered with various Cartier gift offerings. The Winter Tale campaign includes a dedicated microsite at http://www.wintertale.cartier.com/ and the a 30-second video spot shown above. On the microsite you can choose from Accessories for Her, Diamonds Forever and Precious Objects for Him all under the watchful eye of the adorable baby panther who pads around and licks a paw in the background. """"

PLS look at this movie  on Cartier site also :( click on _movie on the left side

What do you think about it  ?

Just an other  sneaky exploitation of big cats : virtual or not !

With this beautiful  animal which is  this" prestigious"  luxury brand symbol .

They show a baby panther among Christmas presents :

at least they  could put a warning:  animals are not Christmas gifts!

but may be it is asking too much ....

Animal Expoiltation starts too often with  innocuous images,

or cute advertisings -

I am against the use of animals  and :

in the Year of the ***Tiger : what a sad joke on this site  !

The Panthera  in the video was trained by Thierry PORTIER..

A panthera living in France used by CARTIER  : WTF ?

Thierry Portier's farm in France  :

Pls have a look at

In that farm in France :

Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Black Panther, Jaguar, Cheetah, Pumas, Spotted Hyenas, Grey Wolf, Artic Wolf !!!!

and it is written :

For any other animal contact us ....

Since when animal trainers respect animals?

Wild animals belong to Wildlife only .

There is nothing glamorous about showbiz for primates, big cats, bears, and other animals who are used in television, film, or advertising; exploited as sports mascots; or used as props in novelty displays. Torn away from their mothers as infants, these animals are subjected to abusive training methods and forced to spend most of their lives in small, filthy cages, deprived of everything that is natural and important to them. Trainers who supply animals to the entertainment industry are frequently cited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for violating the federal Animal Welfare Act, which establishes only minimal guidelines for animal care. Social animals such as primates, elephants, and wolves are often forced to live alone, causing them severe psychological stress and anxiety.

Thanks to Loredana for the farm's link .

About :

*** Panthera / Tigers are not pets !!  Panthera / Tigers are not toys !!

Large cats :

*** Panthera is a genus of the family Felidae (the cats), which contains four well-known living species:

the tiger, the lion, the jaguar, and the leopard. The genus comprises about half of the Pantherinae subfamily, the big cats.

In their natural environments, tigers and lions would quietly roam many miles of territory, hunt, and raise their young. Bears would climb and debark trees, forage on berries, dig through vegetation, build dens, capture small animals or insects, and fish in streams. Animals who are kept as mascots—such as Mike the Tiger at Louisiana State University, the bears at Baylor University, the tiger named TOM III at the University of Memphis, the lions named Leo III and Una at the University of North Alabama, and the many tiger cubs who have been used by Massillon High School in Ohio—aren't allowed to do any of the things that are natural and important to them.

No amount of training can stop a wild animal from behaving instinctively, and trainers cannot protect themselves or the public from an angry or terrified animal's claws, teeth, and sheer strength when he or she rebels against the trainer's dominance. Injury and death are dangers for handlers and spectators who place themselves in a wild animal's path. For more information, see PETA's factsheets on big cat attacks and bear attacks. There's no reason to subject animals to the chaos and stress of sporting events.

Highly intelligent, sensitive animals deserve better than to be treated as if they were props for our amusement.

Please avoid attractions that exhibit live wild animals.

If you see a film, television show, or ***advertisement that exploits great apes or other wild animals, contact the producers and tell them why you object.
